I spent the summer of 2009 as a Research Assistant at Harvard Law School’s Berkman Center for Internet and Society.  While there I worked on three projects:

1)  Berkman Broadband Study

In the summer of 2009, the Berkman Center was asked by the Federal Communications Commission to conduct an expert review of existing literature and studies about broadband deployment and usage.  My primary job at Berkman this summer was as a member of the team researching international broadband case studies.  From the FCC’s public notice:

On July 14, the Commission announced in a press release that Harvard University’s Berkman Center for Internet and Society would conduct an expert review of existing literature and studies about broadband deployment and usage throughout the world to inform the Commission’s development of a National Broadband Plan.
A draft of the study has now been completed. The Commission is seeking public comment on the study, and has posted the draft for public review at the following Internet address:

2) Herdict Web

I spent time assisting on Herdict Web’s research into using Amazon’s Mechanical Turk.

3) Radio Berkman

I reported for Radio Berkman during the summer, including at the Open Video Conference in New York City in June 2009.
